Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS)

The MDCPS system is one of the most diverse in the nation (62.5% Latino; 25.7% African American; 9.1% Caucasian; and 2.7% various) and recent belt tightening has hit the school district's budget hard. Miami Music Project is proud of its collaboration MDCPS. To establish the program on a strong footing and to gain access to a student population under-served by classical music, the Miami Music Project forged relationships and alliances with teachers, sharing program ideas and collaboratively shaping the parameters of the program. In addition, it gained the support of Robert T. Davis, the school's District Supervisor for the Performing Arts, as well as Superintendent Alberto Carvalho.
